Neurological Rehabilitation
Home visits by a qualified physiotherapist
What we do
We provide specialist neurological physiotherapy in your own home for people living with conditions that affect the brain and nervous system. Our approach focuses on maximising your independence through task-specific training, facilitation techniques, and progressive exercise programmes.
Neurological conditions affect everyone differently. We take the time to understand your goals — whether that's walking more confidently, getting in and out of a chair safely, or returning to activities you enjoy — and build your rehabilitation around them.
Who it helps
- Stroke survivors — improving movement, balance, and functional independence after stroke
- Parkinson's disease — maintaining mobility, reducing stiffness, and improving balance
- Multiple sclerosis (MS) — managing fatigue, spasticity, and maintaining function
- Brain injury — rehabilitation following traumatic or acquired brain injury
- Spinal cord conditions — maximising function and independence
- Motor neurone disease & other progressive conditions — maintaining quality of life and adapting to change
- Cerebral palsy — functional mobility and strengthening (children and adults)
What to expect
Your physiotherapist will carry out a detailed neurological assessment, looking at your movement, balance, muscle tone, coordination, and functional abilities. We'll discuss your goals and develop a treatment plan together.
Your programme may include:
- Task-specific training: Practising real-life activities like standing, walking, and reaching
- Facilitation techniques: Hands-on guidance to improve movement quality and control
- Strengthening exercises: Targeted exercises to build muscle strength and endurance
- Balance and weight-bearing: Improving stability and confidence on your feet
- Tone management: Techniques to address spasticity and muscle tightness
- Dual-task rehabilitation: Combining physical and cognitive tasks to challenge your brain and body
- Equipment advice: Walking aids, standing frames, and adaptive equipment
Evidence-based approach
Neurological rehabilitation is most effective when it's intensive, repetitive, and task-specific. Research shows that the brain can reorganise and form new pathways — a process called neuroplasticity — and our treatment is designed to harness this potential. We stay up to date with the latest evidence to ensure you receive the best possible care.

Frequently asked questions
How soon after a stroke should physiotherapy start?
As early as possible. However, it's never too late to benefit from neurological physiotherapy. Even years after a stroke or diagnosis, targeted rehabilitation can improve your function and quality of life.
Can neurological physiotherapy be done at home?
Yes. In fact, practising in your own environment can be more effective because you're training in the exact setting where you need to function — your own stairs, bathroom, kitchen, and garden.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your condition and goals. We'll discuss a realistic plan at your initial assessment and review regularly. Some people benefit from a short course of sessions; others need ongoing support.
